WHITE RENAISSANCE OIL CRUET | ARAB OVEN | ÚBEDA
These unique pieces are the almost magical result of firing in a historic Arab kiln and the mastery of its potters in Úbeda (Jaén).
Operating an Arab kiln requires extraordinary preliminary work by master artisans who, with their hands, effort, and dedication, mold, glaze, and decorate hundreds of pieces: pitchers, basins, platters... even statues! These will remain in the Arab kiln for over 30 hours, heated by pomace (crushed olive pits), reaching a temperature of 1000ºC, and always under the watchful eye of the potters, who are knowledgeable in techniques used for centuries and continue to pass them down from generation to generation.
When the kiln cools, singular and unrepeatable objects begin to appear, with glazes full of nuances and the strength of clay fired with time, created by the hands and techniques of the artisans and the alchemy that occurs within the Arab kiln.
