Vinegar Pitcher | Arab Oven | Úbeda
These unique pieces are the almost magical result of the firing process in a historic Arab kiln and the mastery of its potters in Úbeda (Jaén).
Putting an Arab kiln into operation requires extraordinary prior work by master craftsmen who, with their hands, effort and dedication, mold, glaze and decorate hundreds of pieces, jugs, basins, fountains... even statues!, which will be in the Arab kiln for more than 30 hours, heated by the pomace (crushed olive pits), until reaching a temperature of 1000º, and always under the watchful eye of the potters who know the techniques used for centuries, which they continue to pass on from generation to generation.
When the kiln cools, unique and unrepeatable objects begin to appear with glazes full of nuances and the strength of clay baked over time, created by the hands and techniques of the artisans and the alchemy that occurs inside the Arab kiln.
