La Bisbal d'Empordà is the ceramics capital of Catalonia, the ground zero of the Catalan ceramics industry. The craft of the ceramist is the most typical of the town.

The ceramists of La Bisbal work under the registered trademark "Cerámica de la Bisbal," which is a protective designation at the European Union level. This recognizes the uniqueness of the ceramic pieces made in this municipality and its surroundings.
