PORRÓN AGUARDIENTE | ARABIC OVEN | ÚBEDA
These unique pieces are the almost magical result of firing in a historic Arab oven and the mastery of its potters in Úbeda (Jaén).
Operating an Arab oven requires extraordinary preliminary work by master artisans who, with their hands, effort, and dedication, mold, glaze, and decorate hundreds of pieces: pitchers, basins, platters... even statues! These pieces will remain in the Arab oven for more than 30 hours, heated by pomace (crushed olive pits), until reaching 1000ºC, always under the watchful eye of potters knowledgeable in techniques used for centuries, which they continue to pass down from generation to generation.
When the oven cools, unique and unrepeatable objects begin to appear, with glazes full of nuances and the strength of clay fired over time, created by the hands and techniques of the artisans and the alchemy that occurs within the Arab oven.
